Work Location: Seattle (relocation assistance not available)
Compensation: Low to mid 30s, commensurate with experience

Position Information

Laurasian Institution is a not-for-profit educational organization, specializing in high-quality programs of academic exchange. The Program Assistant is responsible for the smooth operation of grant programs by carefully maintaining financial records for our program participants and keeping detailed documentation per program requirements. The position involves regular communication internally within departments and externally with participants and funders. Occasional travel to workshop locations around the U.S.


Job Duties

  • Oversee program budget reports and submit yearly financial reports to backers
  • Administer program stipends to participants
  • Ensure program participants’ documentation is compliant with program, organization, and funder rules and policies
  • Data entry and record maintenance
  • Coordinate logistics for program trainings across the U.S.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of positive relationships through regular communication with quasi-governmental entities, funders, and program participants


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Japan Studies or International Studies preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat


Ideal Candidates Will Have

  • Strong attention to detail and troubleshooting abilities
  • The ability to independently handle multiple priorities
  • Experience in international education
  • Familiarity with Japanese language and business culture
  • Occasional availability after hours and/or weekends to support trainings, etc.
  • Passion for U.S.-Japan relations and/or education

Community Coordinator, PAX H.S. Exchange

PAX Laurasian Exchange is hiring for the position of Community Coordinator (local representatives nationwide). This independent contractor supports the PAX H.S. Exchange program, helping host families and high schools throughout the continental U.S. share their America with exchange students from more than 70 countries by:

  • Arranging semester and academic year homestays and high school enrollment for exchange students.
  • Generating interest in the local community.
  • Holding orientations for both families and students.
  • Guiding young, international visitors through personal and cultural adjustment.
  • Providing friends and neighbors in their community and the young people they host with positive, life-changing exposure to new cultures.

Ideal candidates will have the following experience, characteristics, and attributes:

  • Have parented or worked with teens for three or more years.
  • Education, sales, or youth counseling experience.
  • Are optimistic, motivated, flexible self-starters.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present to individuals and small groups of people.
  • Enjoy a strong network within their community.
