Training in the U.S. - Summer

New Coordinators (6 Days)
Program policy review and Q & A
Acclimating to and observing U.S. daily life
Discussion about common perceptions about Japan
Discussion about common perceptions about the U.S., U.S. education, politics, and history
Discussion about outreach, design of an outreach activity, and presentation of the activity
Learning how to share expectations/ personal goals

New Supervisors (1 Day)
Overview of program and Q & A
Articulate expectations and vision of what year will look like with the presence of a coordinator.
Discuss training that has transpired to date

New Supervisors & Coordinators (1.5 Day)
Review main program expectations and policies, Q & A
Supervisors share their sites' expectations and visions of the upcoming year with their coordinators
Review coordinators' calendars for the Fall
Create a strategy to realize sties' expectations and goals
Share goals and strategies with other pairs
Review resources available to them

Second Year Supervisors & Coordinators (1.5 Day)
Review main program expectations and policies, Q & A
Pairs share programming successes and challenges
Pairs share
their sites' expectations and visions of final year
Pairs revise their strategy and add more focus to their plans.
Share goals and strategies with entire group
Review resources available to them

Follow-up Workshop - Fall (New Coordinators - 4.5 Days)

Coordinators meet separately to discuss challenges
Sharing of activities and programming by coordinators
Assess whether goals set in summer are being met or need to be revised
Learning to critically observe K-12 classes
